Chinmaya Villa

Design Intent
Chinmaya Villa, or the Hill Retreat as we like to call it, was conceived as a low-rise retreat set within a carefully designed landscape, where built form and nature are experienced together rather than separately. The architecture is intentionally simple and spread out, allowing the space to breathe and remain connected to surroundings.
A sloping roof, deep overhangs, and verandah-like edges are introduced to respond to climate while creating shaded transitional spaces that extend the indoors outward.
Movement through the site is guided by soft pathways, layered planting, and subtle lighting, shaping a calm and immersive outdoor experience.
Interiors are designed to be light, functional, and unobtrusive, allowing natural light and material textures to define the space. Skylights and openings are placed to enhance the experience the weather, daylight, rain and time throughout the day.
Designed entirely remotely, the project required clarity and precision at every stage, from planning to detailing, ensuring the final space remains true to its intent. The result is a retreat that feels rooted, peaceful, and deeply connected to its environment.
